Topic - "Business Succession: Connelly v United States"
In June 2024, business owners across the country awoke to the news from the US Supreme court that by a unanimous decision life insurance death benefits owned by a business for buy-sell purposes will now be included in the business valuation. With this ruling, business owners will no longer have an offset of policy benefits to share redemption as was previously the case. For many of your clients who are unaware of this development, the impact on redemption values and estate tax calculations will be significant.
Join us to learn about the facts of the case, what this means for clients and the potential solutions to address this pressing issue. The discussion will address both the estate planning and insurance policy considerations.
